Republicans have increased their Chick-Fil-A habits 37-fold over the last three years

Since 2012, when Chick-Fil-A CEO Dan Cathy publically expressed support for “the biblical definition of the family unit” and cautioned that redefining what constitutes a marriage was to invite “God's judgment on our nation,” Chick-Fil-A has become, in the worlds of the National Journal, American Republicans’ “culture-war statement on a bun.”

The chain has catered congressional birthday parties, Tea Party meetings, and was reportedly the lunch of choice for the Senate during GOP meetings ahead of the last potential government shutdown.

Since then, according to expenditure reports obtained by the Journal, House Republicans have spent nearly $13,000 in US taxpayer dollars at the chain. According to the National Journal:

“That's the equivalent of 3,900 original chicken sandwiches, and it represents a 37-fold increase over the paltry $345 the House GOP had spent on Chick-fil-A the previous three years. (It also may be an undercount, since some receipts say only "food and beverage" without specifying a source.)”

Democrats, meanwhile, have not bought Chick-Fil-A (with your money) since May 2012, when someone bought lunch for $6.
